Combine Demolition Derby

Dallon and I went to the combine derby today. Uncle Chris was a mechanic for one of the combines. Dallon really enjoyed watching the combines hit each other. I did get him to take an hour nap during the derby though. It was between rounds. That way, he wouldn't miss much. Uncle Chris's combine didn't win, but it was fun to watch them.

Dallon got to see Gpa Jerry and Gma Skip today. They were picking up some sheep that they bought from the 4-H kids. He was very excited to see them. He even jumped out of the stroller.

How much sleep can one boy get?

Dallon almost refuses to take a nap anymore. Which, you know this from my previous posts. Well, yesterday, he seemed kinda tired but didn't want a nap. Therefore, I let him play. Well, being tired must have got the best of him. He turned into an ornery little boy. So, I made him sit in the chair and watch some cartoons. About 15 minutes later, he wanted to be good. That only lasted about 5 minutes. So back to the chair again. This time about 15 minutes later the little angel was sound asleep. Approximate time, 4:00 in the afternoon. I thought wonderful I will let him sleep till about 6:00 and then we can have dinner. In the meantime, it was quilting for me. No little fingers to grab the material.

So, 6:00 rolled around. I tried to wake him up for about 1/2 hour. NO WAY!!! He got mad and I put him back in the chair and he was back to sleep. (He tries to remind me of his dad once in a while. Being crabby if woken.) So, about 8:00 I woke him up to put his jammies on. I put him in bed and he slept until 6:30 this morning.

I have to say, it was kind of nice having a quiet evening. But, since he got so much sleep last night, there was no nap today. So much for a schedule to follow. Maybe I am in training for the new baby.

Back to Our Routine

Dallon and I took Rick to the airport last night. He had to go back to work. He is now starting a 2 weeks of work and then 2 weeks home. What does this mean for Dallon and I? Well, now we have to get back to our routine. Since today is suppose to be nice, Dallon is going to go play on the swing set while I get all the outside work done and ready for winter. Today and tomorrow are our deep cleaning days. We usually don't do this when Dad is home. We would rather play with him then do house work. So, it is not all fun and games while Dad is gone. But, we do have some fun. I am going to try to start sewing on the quilts for the boys and get some scrapbooking done. I am not sure what Dallon is going to do, but he keeps asking me to fly the helicopter. So, I am sure we will do that quite a bit. Keeping to our routine makes our days go by faster. That means Dad comes home sooner. There is one guarantee that will happen almost every day. DALLON AND I WILL BE TAKING A NAP!!!

There won't be any pictures for the next two weeks. Rick took the camera to Alaska. This way, Dallon and I can see where he works. We found out that it is now snowing up there. Good Luck Dad!!! It should be almost 75 degrees today here.

Maybe we can get Grandma and Grandpa to take some pictures for us. We will see.

What Should we Do Now?

Well, since the airplane was wrecked and we were in Nezperce, we went to Bell Equipment to watch Chris work on the combine for the demolition derby. Dallon was really excited. There were green machines everywhere. Not only dirt and grease to play in also. Sam decided she would take him up in a combine and let him pretend to drive. They pretended forever. Dallon even yelled at me to get out of the way so he wouldn't run me over. He got a lesson on what they were cutting. They were cutting wheat and the grain went in the bin. Good thing the combine had two seats, that way Sam could be the passenger. It was pretty obvious Dallon knew what he was doing.

And NO, that is not the combine for the derby. I think it is a little too new and nice.

Funtime Over

The remote controlled airplane that Rick and Dallon enjoy flying so much is on hold until more parts arrived. Rick wrecked the airplane bad last night and got it stuck up in a tree. It was quite funny watching Rick climb the tree hoping that he could get high enough to get it out. He couldn't, but Sam went to where Chris works and got a really long pole that Rick could use. The plane came down, but it wasn't in good shape. Rick had to order more parts. He also decided to order another plane so he always has one on backup. I guess he plans on wrecking it often.

Here is a picture of Dallon and I watching and maybe laughing at Rick trying to get the airplane.

Bath Time

Dallon really likes to take baths, only under his terms. He likes to play until the water gets cold and he doesn't mind washing. But, when it comes to washing his hair, he absolutely refuses. So, the other day, I told him to do it himself. This was his solution to getting it wet. He used his washcloth. Needless to say, it didn't work and I had to end up washing his hair. I have tried to convince him that if we cut it then it won't be that bad to wash it. Problem with that is, he hates to have his hair cut and screams bloody murder.

Daddy's Finally Home

Rick finally got home Friday morning from his big hunting trip. He did a lot of mule riding and walking. He didn't get to shoot anything but the other hunters in their camp shot 3 bears. He had a blast hanging out with his Dad.

He didn't want to come home, but since his birthday is Sunday the 23rd, he had to come home and renew his license. He is going to try to go back to camp when he comes home from work next time.

Napping---Good or Bad

Dallon hasn't really decided if he is going to take naps or not. The last two days he has taken one though. It seems like when his dad is home, naps don't exist. But, when dad is gone (after a few days), I can get him to nap. There are pros and cons to him napping. The pros to him napping are, of course, I get a nap or at least rest. But, if he takes a nap then he doesn't go to bed until about 10:00. Now, if he doesn't take a nap, then he goes to bed early, about 8:00. Which is really good for me. I get to do some things while he sleeps. Like watch something besides cartoons. The two bad things about naps, I get no rest during the day and he gets crabby at night. What to do, what to do?!? I think I am going to try to get him to just lay down during the day and watch a movie. Then we will both get some rest. I guess we will see what happens. His dad comes home from hunting tomorrow. Everything goes off schedule again. We will probably have to wait until his dad goes back to work before we try a new routine.

Dallon Might Be a Doctor

Tonight while I was working on the invitations for Chris and Sam's wedding, Dallon decided he needed to check out my belly. I glanced down at him and he had on his Craftsman goggles, had a toy screwdriver, and a toy screw. He told me that he needed to check on the baby. He put the screw to my belly button and then tried to screw it in. I asked him if the baby was alright. He told me yes and then pretend like he was listening to the heartbeat. I guess he was getting worried cause it has been 2 weeks since my last appointment and he wanted to make sure everything is alright. I wish I had the camera, it was quite a sight.

I just keep wondering why I am paying the doctor when I have one at home.

Daddy's Gone

Rick went hunting on Saturday with his dad. He was supposed to come home on Monday, but called and said he wasn't coming home until Wednesday. Since my sister is borrowing my car, that has left Dallon and I without a vehicle. Don't worry, we had my dad's pickup over the weekend and my family is checking on us. Well, that leaves Dallon and I to spend lots of quality time together since we can't leave. I guess you can say we are enjoying it.

I have decided that I would start scrapbooking, since I have tons of pictures from the wedding until present. I think it will be a good hobby. Dallon enjoys coloring, so he colors while I am working on stuff at the table. Sometimes he wants my stuff, but I convince him otherwise. There is an advantage to having a sandbox also. The sandbox is right next to the table so Dallon takes breaks and plays in it and then comes back to color. He has made many pictures. Today he decided he wanted to mail some. I don't know who he wants to mail them to, but he mentioned something about going to school with him. Sometimes I don't know where he comes up with these things.

I am starting another project that has to be done by Christmas. I am making the boys matching quilts for their beds. They will have their names on them. That means Rick needs to decide on the name now. I thought we decided but he thought of another name when he was in Alaska. I guess we will see.

Well, while Daddy is gone, Dallon and I will do things to keep our selves busy. I will post some pictures of Rick's hunting trip when he gets home.

Dallon---The Only Smart One

Tonight my brother Chris's fiance, Sam, decided she wanted to cut his hair for the first time. Things got really interesting. She did a swipe down the middle and decided she didnt want to do it anymore. Therefore, I had to finish doing it. Mind you, I only cut Dallon's hair and it is one length. Chris wanted it faded. GREAT!!!! I got done with it though. It didn't look the greatest. Rick then decided he wanted his cut the same. GREAT AGAIN!!!! I did his and it didn't look that great either. They tried to convince Dallon. I raised a smart kid. He wasn't going to get his hair cut. He was laughing while the other two were getting theirs done. Good thing hair grows back.

I could understand doing haircuts if we were all drunk. But, remember I am pregnant and don't drink. I guess I could use being pregnant as my excuse.

Dallon showing off his nice hair without the cut. But, I have to say, he really does need one.

Like Father, Like Son

So since Rick has been home, I have noticed more that Dallon really looks up to him. He pays attention to everything Rick does and says. Not always good!!! Dallon has been repeating everything Rick says. Sometimes we have to tell him that he can't say that and sometimes we just laugh. He comes up with some of the funniest things to say lately. For example, last night, he climbed on the couch with his blanket and asked his dad to come go to sleep with him. We started laughing and Rick went and layed down with him. His two responses to the questions you ask him are "nothing" and "I'm busy."
Even though Dallon doesn't really like to talk on the phone to Rick when he is at work, you can sure tell that Dallon misses him. Those two have been inseperable. It is kind of nice for me, I get a little bit of a break from him climbing all over me. I keep wondering if there will be enough room in Rick's chair for two little boys to climb all over him. I guess we will see.

Taking Naps

Dallon's naps are getting few and far between. Rick came home on Friday and today was the first day that he has taken a nap. He fell asleep in his game chair in his room. He was watching Robots. I hope after Rick leaves he will take a nap every day. I sure need one.

Flying Helicopters

Well, since Rick has been home, the boys have flown the helicopters pretty much all of the time. Dallon's broke last night, but he sure enjoyed it. Rick broke the big remote control airplane last night also.

These are pictures of Rick and Dallon flying their helicopters yesterday.

New Toys

Dallon and I went to pick up Rick yesterday morning. It is such an exciting time for Dallon. As soon as he can see the airplane, he is jumping all over the place. He meets Rick at the door. Well, that wasnt the only exciting thing. Rick bought a indoor helicopter. Him and Dallon flew that thing all afternoon yesterday. So today when I went to Lewiston, I had to buy another one. I just don't think they can share very well. When I got home this afternoon they were both excited. They flew those two for awhile and then decided we needed another one. Along with my Dad and my brother. Great!!!!! So now we have 3 on there were that we ordered off the internet. I just don't think my house is big enough for that many. I guess we will see. As long as the boys are happy then the mom is happy.

Slumber Party

Dallon decided that he wanted to stay the night at my parents house last night. So, yesterday I tried to get him to take a nap so we could go over after his nap. Dallon and I have both been fighting colds all week, so I thought it would be good if he got a nap in. Plus, I really needed one. Well, he was way to excited to go over there and didn't take a nap. So, I got him ready and we headed over there about 4:30. He made it 5 minutes outside of Grangeville and fell asleep. The slumber party started early. He didnt wake up until about 7:00 and then he played a little bit. I guess we will see how their night went when I go to pick him up this morning.

Baby Update

Since all of the posts have been about Dallon so far, I thought that I would update everyone on the baby. I went to the doctor today and everything is going good. He is very active and did not want to hold still so we could hear the heart beat. But, the doctor won and we heard it for as long as the doctor needed to and then he moved again. This is common because he moves everytime Dallon touches my stomach. He is still breach, but the doctor wasnt to concerned about that. He is bigger than what the doctor expected him to be. I guess that I am going to have a big baby. Rick gets home Friday afternoon from work. We haven't seen him in three weeks. He probably won't recognize me. My belly has grown a lot.

Dallon enjoyed going to the doctor with me. He told the doctor we were going to have a blue baby. Which means we are going to have a boy. He also tried to tell the doctor everything he needed to do. I guess he has gone with me enough to know what the doctor has to do. He really wanted to listen to the baby. That is his favorite part.

Vacation Fun

Dallon and I went camping with my parents and family. We actually went to a family reunion. It was really nice, I hadn't seen some of my realtives for a couple of years. Dallon had a blast playing with all the little kids that were his age. He made really good friends with my cousin Tonia's daughter Emma. She is exactly 1 year older than him. We tried to go paddle boating, but the first night we were there, there was a bad storm and almost all of the boats were broken. So we didn't get to go boating. Dallon got over it really fast. We gave him an ice cream cone. He also decided that he knew how to ride his bicycle this weekend. He did really good. We only had to push him a couple of times. He got to ride his four wheeler. He even gave his Uncle Chris a ride. The last night we were there, we decided to go miniature golfing. Dallon loves to golf, so we thought he would enjoy this. I invited Emma to go along with us. So, I took the two little kids and let them golf while Mom, Dad, Uncle Chris, and Aunt Sam played behind us. I think that I did the best. I only had to hit the ball once and then Emma and Dallon would put it in the hole for me. It was a lot of fun.

I have to say that it is nice to be home. Four days of fun was enough to wear me out.
