Our Trip to Dixie

Can you say relaxation?!?! That is what the first 3 weeks of January were. Rick and I took the boys to Dixie on January 2nd. Although we plowed about a foot of snow all the way there, it was a relief to finally be there. My father-in-law Todd and his girlfriend Shelly were already there and waiting. There was a ton of snow there. And, for the next few days it snowed between 8 and 12 inches every night. How fun is that. Dallon got to show Grandpa how he could ride his snowmobile and we got to go for a ride. It was a slow ride might I add. Dallon can only go about 10 miles an hour. That is when he isnt goofing off. They got to open Christmas presents from Grandpa. They got some really fun toys that kept them entertained the whole time we were there. Todd and Shelly had to leave on Monday. We had such a great time with them. On Monday, the power was out most of the day. No big deal we went out and played. Well, then Tuesday the power went out in the afternoon. It did not come on until Wednesday afternoon. This is alright with us. We have wood heat and propane lights. Plus the stove top is propane. On Wednesday morning we got worried about the food in the fridge, so we put it in the cooler outside. It was so cold up there that everything stayed very cold. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we spent a lot of time outside. We had bought Dallon a sled to pull behind the snowmobile and he loved it. So when he wasnt doing that he was riding his snowmobile. We also convinced Rick to help us build a snowman. He is such a perfectionist. He redid everything we did. We used chocolate covered raisins for eyes, mouth and buttons. Well, when i went out to take a picture, the face was gone. Hope the dogs enjoyed it. Friday we got some company. So on Saturday, we went for a ride. The snow was so deep and there were so many trees to go around that we got stuck alot. It took us 4 hours to go about 10 miles. It started snowing and everyone was getting cold. We were glad to get back home. Dallon got a chance to play Guitar Hero on the WII. I have never seen anything so funny. On Sunday, our guest left. So, we sat around and watched movies and relaxed some more. On Monday, I got up and cleaned the cabin and packed everything up while Rick loaded everything and got the snowmobiles put away. We came home that day so we could get some more groceries and I needed to go to the doctor. On Tuesday, I went to the doctor and did all of our laundry and started packing again. On Wednesday, we went to Lewiston to buy groceries and pick up Rick's buffalo head. (picture later) We also, had another added expense. Rick decided we needed a WII of our own and Guitar Hero. Yep, so him and Dallon bought it. We got home that afternoon and played it. What a work out, but so much fun. On Thursday morning we headed back to Dixie. Toddy got the flu that night and Rick got a sinus infection. So, on Friday, we layed around hoping everyone would get better fast. Toddy bounced back, but Rick did not. Friday night my brother and sister-in-law came back up. Saturday we went for a relaxing ride. We rode to the ranger station, only about 5 miles and Dallon got to play on the airport and the boys got to jump their snowmobiles and we drank a lot of beer. It was fun to just sit there and watch and play. Mind you, Dallon thinks he can go everywhere the boys go, so he was stuck a lot. When we got back, we barely got in the door and Dallon got the flu. By about 7 that night my brother and I werent feeling the greatest and we ended up with flu along with Rick. So, Sunday, we were all trying to recover or still sick. Sam cleaned up a lot of the cabin and packed up their stuff so they could go home. Monday came and it was time for us to come home. We werent ready but knew we had to since Rick had to go back to work. So, a lot of cleaning and putting things away. And home we came. Neither one of the boys were excited. Toddy loves to ride snowmobiles and being out in the snow. And, we can never get Dallon to come inside. So, it was a bummer to get back to Grangeville and no snow. But, we had lots of fun and want to thank Grandpa Todd for letting us use his cabin. We really appreciate it.
